Olive oil has been used for centuries to give hair lustre, body, smoothness, and durability. The primary chemical components of olive oil are oleic acid, palmitic acid, and squalene. Since they are all emollients, they all have softening qualities. In reality, many shampoos, conditioners, and pomades contain emollients manufactured in laboratories.
There is very little
scientific evidence to back up the popular usage of olive oil in hair care.
However, certain studies on olive oil's benefits show that it can have a
sizable moisturising effect.
Olive oil for
hair can smooth and strengthen hair by
penetrating the hair shaft and holding onto moisture. Olive oil is said to make
hair shiny, which may be due to its capacity to smooth the hair's outer
cuticle.
Steps to use Olive oil
for hair
You might need to do
multiple tests until you find a timetable that works for you. If you've never
used olive oil to treat your hair, here's how to start.
·
If you've never used olive oil on your
hair before, start out with only one or two spoonfuls.
·
You should apply varied amounts of olive
oil depending on where and how completely you wish to moisturise. Only a
teaspoon will be plenty to cover the ends.
·
If you have long or really thick hair,
you'll need at least 1/4 cup of olive oil to treat your entire head.
·
Massage the oil well into your hair for a
while. You can also massage it into your dry scalp.
·
For the finest conditioning results, cover
your hair with a shower cap and let the oil sit in for at least 15 minutes.
·
Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb
before shampooing the oil out of it. This will then make combing and styling
easier.
·
Give your hair a good wash and dry if you
want to see results. If you applied too much, you might need to shampoo twice.
